npHE Church of St. Lawrence (originally St. James), Denton, J- is about six miles shghtly south-east of Manchester, and stands on the west side of the main road leading from Ashton to Stockport. According to Booker [Chctham Miscellanies Vol. 37, Chetham Society p. 41, History of Denton Chapel) the Church was erected in 1531-2 by the local families, the Hollands and the

Hydes. 1356340

The Registers here printed are as follows : — -Volume I,, bound in millboard, consists of 40 leaves of paper, measuring 11 inches by seven inches.

Volume II., bound in leather, contains 47 leaves of parchment (and a fragment of a paper leaf), measuring 13I inches by seven inches.

It would be well if volume I. had a more substantial cover.
